operationeverychildHi again!

Today is a really important day for me, because I get to unveil a project I have been working on for a while.

According to Statistics Canada, over 3,300 women and their 3,000 children are forced to stay in shelters each night to flee abuse and domestic violence. With the holiday season rapidly approaching, many of these women have little or no money to spend on gifts for the kids.

That’s why I’m so excited to share with you a project I have been working on with a local women’s shelter in the Toronto area: Operation Every Child. I, like so many other readers, have experienced first-hand how amazing and impactful books can be. For Operation Every Child, my goal is to raise $1000 to give books to each child at the shelter this holiday season.

All money raised will go directly to Operation Every Child. I am so thrilled to be bringing this project into the world, and I hope you can help me make a difference! If you want to get involved, I would really appreciate all monetary donations and of course, all tweeting, Instagramming, Facebooking, and other sharing would be greatly appreciated! You can directly visit the GoFundMe page for Operation Every Child here.

Have any questions or want to directly donate some brand new picture books, middle grade novels, or young adult books? Email me at contact@bookishserendipity.com or tweet me. I tweeted about this yesterday and got an amazing response, and I am so honoured by all the support.

All donations are greatly appreciated for Operation Every Child, be it $1 or $100. When I say that all donations count, it’s so true! Check out the GoFundMe page for Operation Every Child today!

This is such an awesome thing you are doing. Thank you! I have volunteered with a battered women’s shelter before. I know those kids could use some cheer this Christmas. I have donated and I will be sharing this on my FB page and blog as well. Good luck!

This is a perfect melding of my concern for literacy and social justice. I’m in! And thank you for making this effort.
